I couldn’t help but wonder…is dressing like the most iconic character of the ’90s/early ’00s still relevant?
I’m sure everyone is aware of Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and her impact on the fashion world. Her style in Sex and the City was something no one had ever seen before. Her outfits were sometimes wacky, sometimes even ridiculous, but most often, they were fabulous, and they were always bold.
Regardless of the reason or the season, the biggest lesson we can take from Carrie is to just go for it. Be big, be bold, and dress in a way that is unapologetically you.
To get Carrie’s look today, take a fashion risk and rock various trends together, even if they don’t seem like they should go with one another. By styling them the Carrie way, you will certainly turn them into an eye-catching look.
Outfit # 1
Bodysuite: H&M // Skirt: ChicWish tulle skirt // Shoes: SJP // Necklace: Swarowski
For this look, I paired bodysuit and tulle skirt, two Carrie staples you can still wear today. Then I accessorized the look with this stunning shoes from SJP collection.
Outfit # 2
Top: ChicWish Puff Sleeves // Skirt: ChicWish Bow Heart Skirt // Shoes: SJP // Headband: Invisiebobble
For this last look I’m combining two things Carrie loves: black top with puffy sleeves and white skirt.
Once again, this outfit features heels that you’d think would be out of place, but somehow work. It’s all about being playful and having confidence. When getting dressed, challenge yourself to forgo the obvious choice (with this look, flat sandals and silver jewelry) in favor of something else great in your closet that has the potential to take the outfit to the next level.
What do you think?
Are you a Sex and the City and SJP fan? What’s your all-time favourite Carrie Bradshaw look? Would you wear any of these looks?
