THE WARMEST WOOL COAT YOU’LL EVER PURCHASE: MY J.CREW DAPHNE  TOPCOAT REVIEW

Coat season is officially upon us, you guys! I know I will bite my tongue in a month or so, but I am pretty excited about opportunity to pull some of my favourite coats.

If I were asked to name the five best clothing purchases that I’ve ever made, this coat will make the list every time, regardless of the criteria. Actually, I have this coat in 2 colours now: in baby-blue and pink. Do you remember this coat from last year?

You wouldn’t think a pink or light blue coat be very practical, but it’s suprisingly neutrals and adds such a polished, girly touch to everything.

Anyway, let’s jump in with some facts and FAQ’s.

WHY THIS J.CREW DAPHNE TOPCAT ROCKS:

  1. It’s actually warm. It’s made of J.Crew’s special “super-cozy boiled wool” fabric and finished it with raw edges and big pockets for the perfect extra touches. This coat is very efficient at blocking the wind, keeping the cold out and locking warmth in.
  2. It’s actually CUTE. I am thrilled that J. Crew decided to bring it back in multiple colours this fall (also in bright rose and warm caramel) and it’s one of the only coats that will keep you looking good and warm at the same time.

WHAT SIZE SHOULD YOU ORDER?

The J.Crew Daphne coat does run big–I would suggest sizing down. I’m usually a 0 or 2 in coats and I ordered a size 0 and I still have room to layer underneath it.

HOW I STYLED IT HERE:

Perfect-fit Turtleneck In White: Duh. When am I not wearing one of these? They are the BEST. They are super thin (like a very thin t-shirt!) and I love that they’re form-fitting (not chunky) turtlenecks. I own them in both Small and XS–the one I’m wearing here is XS. I would say it runs true to size, I always order either XS or Small depending on how I want it to fit. If you want it snug like this, go with the smaller size. If you want it a bit looser, go with the larger size!

Navy Blue Skinny Pantsbest-selling easy pant, now an easy-to-wear full-length. Plus, ideal for travel or wearing repeatedly, which I suspect you will.

Fiona Kitten Heel Boots: O-M-G-you guys.  They are so, so soft and so comfortable–yes, they have heels, but I can seriously wear them all day and they won’t hurt!

What do you think about this coat?
