Clairol Natural Instincts: How To Dye Your Hair At Home

Hello Beauties,

Clairol Natural Instincts: How To Colour Hair At Home

Dyeing your own hair can be risky and stressful, but during lockdown there is no way to get a proper dye job at a salon.

You will have heard horror stories about a friend of a friend doing a bad DIY job and ending up with green locks.

Don’t worry, dyeing your own hair is actually quite straightforward when you know how.

If you follow me on Instagram, right before the holiday season I took a part in a Zoom call with @clairolcolor stylist @luiscolourist who recommended using Clairol Natural Instincts hair colour as glossing treatment since it’s a demi-permanent colour, meaning that it will wash out after 28 shampoos (which by then, hopefully salons will be reopened again!)

WHY YOU SHOULD TRY CLAIROL NATURAL INSTINCTS?

Clairol Natural Instincts: How To Colour Hair At Home

While the idea of coloring your own hair can sound a bit nerve-wracking, Clairol Natural Instincts gives you the freedom to flirt with color! Clairol Natural Instincts gives you shiny, healthy looking color that only lasts 28 washes, so you can change your color whenever you want – without the commitment of a permanent dye and without ammonia! With over 30 colors to choose from, you have the ability to change your hair color in less than 30 minutes. (Note: it’s recommended that you make your hair 1-2 shades darker, not lighter)

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1: Do allergy test 48h before the application to ensure you don’t react badly to the dye.

If you are not sure about the shade, you can do a strand test on a little piece of hair.

Step 2: Section your hair to make sure you cover every strand in dye.
You want to use the comb end to make one long parting from the top of your head to the bottom at the back. Then make another parting from ear to ear. This leaves you with a total of four sections. Imagine you are drawing a cross shape.
You should also make sure you wash your hair no less than 24 to 48 hours before you dye your hair.

Step 3: Cover yourself with the towel. Apply vaseline around your hairline to protect your skin.

Step 4: The coloring process is so quick and simple. Once you unbox your coloring kit, you will find a pair of gloves and three products . Mix the two coloring formulas together then apply the product to your roots and all throughout your hair. After you’ve coated your hair, wait 20 minutes, then rinse the formula out. Apply the conditioner in the shower for two minutes, then rinse. Voila! What makes this product so fun is that the color works so fast and your hair feels so silky and soft after!

Great roundup and review here. I have been dying my hair at home for months now. I went to the salon last week and I had a bit of grow out due to the pandemic about 8 inches or so I paid $70 and the stylist only dyed about 4 inches leaving the other 4 inches undyed! I would be better off doing it myself.
